Lamaya Southward January Player of the Month

Booneville High School has announced Lamaya Southward as the January Player of the Month, recognizing her outstanding performance for the Booneville Lady Blue Devils basketball team.

Southward, a junior, is in her first season at Booneville High School and has made an immediate impact. She has started every game this season and currently leads the Lady Blue Devils in scoring, quickly establishing herself as one of the team’s most reliable and dynamic players.

Known for her all-around skill set, Southward has consistently shown the ability to defend at a high level, knock down shots from beyond the arc, and attack the basket with confidence. Through the month of January, she is averaging 16 points per game, shooting an impressive 51 percent from the field and 58 percent from the free-throw line.

Her contributions have played a key role in the Lady Blue Devils’ success this season. Booneville enters postseason play with an 18–3 overall record and will begin action next week in the 1-3A Division Tournament at Bonner Arnold Coliseum on the campus of Northeast Mississippi Community College. The following week, the Lady Blue Devils will turn their attention to the state tournament, continuing their quest to return to the championship stage and defend their 3A State Championship from last season.
