Devils fall in defeat to the Panthers
The Booneville Blue Devils had trouble keeping up with the Amory Panthers in a 14-6 loss on Saturday

Amory got on the board in the first inning after Sawyer Allmond grounded out, scoring two runs.
The Panthers added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Braden Maranto doubled to left field, and Ben Gault laid down a sacrifice bunt, each scoring one run.
Ethan Childers hit a solo home run to right field in the top of the third for the Amory.
Amory scored five runs on two hits in the top of the seventh inning. Gault singled, scoring one run, Jack Howell hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Childers homered to right field, scoring three runs.
Jacob Matthews pitched four innings in relief for Booneville. The hurler gave up six hits and nine runs (seven earned) while, striking out one and walking three. Knox Houston stepped on the hill first for the Blue Devils. The pitcher allowed three hits and five runs (three earned) over three innings, striking out three and walking four. Ace Rock led things off on the mound for Amory. The hurler allowed eight hits and six runs (four earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking one.
Easton Field and Porter Tapp each drove in two runs for Booneville. Matthews went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Blue Devils in hits. Booneville turned one double play in the game.
Amory amassed nine hits in the game. Childers provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Amory with five runs batted in. The infielder went 3-for-5 on the day. Leadoff hitter Maranto led Amory with four hits in four at bats. Amory had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Paxton Wright and Dilon Kimbrough led the team with two walks each.
